Inspired by the recent surge in popularity of true crime podcasts, Realm has unveiled its own new season of Undertow, entitled “Blood Forest” starring professional VO Actor, Katie Chonacas alongside with Jack Falahee and Bree Klauser. The first three episodes are out now and new episodes premiere every Friday. In each episode, host and creator Fred Greenhalgh explores the history of a small town’s spooky ghost story — and how it ends in murder.
When it comes to audio entertainment, Realm is the firm to turn to for both original fiction podcasts and audiobook series, as well as the official continuations of popular franchises. With offices in New York, Los Angeles, and beyond, Realm works with top talent in cinema, television, animation, publishing, and gaming to produce ambitious, multifaceted, and immersive productions.
Realm was formed by Molly Barton, formerly of Penguin Random House, and Julian Yap, formerly of the Obama administration’s Department of Justice. Shows from the Realm can be found as podcasts anywhere, as well as on the Realm app, which was named “Best of the Year” by Apple.
The events of BLOOD FOREST take place in the fictional town of Langeley, Maine, a sleepy hamlet in the state of Maine that has a dark past. Once every eighteen years, the community is devastated by a serial killer who mutilates and brutalizes his victims.
Katie Chonacas was cast as Alex Keyes after an audition in August. Alex Keyes hosts the successful local conspiracy podcast “Keyes to the Truth.” Someone “from away” who has just moved here who is interested in crystals, UFOs, and any other wild conspiracy theories you can think of. Blogger by day, Selectboard member by night, all around agent of chaos and desperately seeking to go viral.
On an interview, Katie was asked about what she feels about landing the role as Alex. Katie stated “ I knew that it would be an amazing opportunity. Alex was a lot of fun because she’s got an interesting backstory.”
